NEWTON Pedagogical Assessment

Do you know what the PAC is? The PAC “Pedagogical Assessment Committee” is a a committee of experts in charge of coordinating the Pedagogical Assessments activities in NEWTON project and ensure that they are scientifically relevant and pilots generate comparable data for cross-pilot analytics. It is a sort of “help-desk” to the NEWTON community of researchers.

The PAC offers ppermanent support to NEWTON community and members  for example there are FAQs & lessons learnt fed back to the community that are shared on a regular basis.

The PAC encourages internal & external communication (templates, guidelines, …) and of course for tools  that were selected to support intensive team work, such as skype and Freedcamp. All meetings are recorded in minutes available on the internal project server (the NEWTON common repository for storing documents, videos etc).

The first activities of the PAC were oriented towards revising and complementing the PA workplan, considering reviewers comment.

As said before, the PAC serves as a kind of Help Desk to the NEWTON community of researchers because all questions regarding pedagogical assessment are analyzed and discussed among the members of the PAC to make sure that we provide a consensued and scientifically sound answer. All answers and lessons learnt are channeled back to the community of researchers. The fact that members of the PAC have also a leading role in Pilots help with understanding the issues and transferring lessons learnt across pilots.

We have established  certain guidelines and templates for example,  Pilots tables and a timeline, planning reports, pilot results reports, steps to follow for dissemination, and all kinds of templates and guidelines for a smooth work. Why do we use templates?

At the end the PAC aims to achieve:

  • Effective collaboration between all pilot leaders and Pedagogical Assessment Committee (PAC).
  • Enable PAC to update and adjust the assessment procedure if necessary.
  • Small-scale pilots will feed into large-scale pilot plans.
  • Easy access to pilot information for all partners.
  • Efficient dissemination strategy.

We ask researchers to share, share and share! And this time we share with you! Let us know if you have questions!
